At McLeod Creek Wines, we take a simple approach to wine making. After all, the best wines are the ones that require the least input from the maker. The challenge is to cultivate healthy fruit in the vineyard which has the right balance of sugar, acids, tannin and colour, and then, by using traditional fermentation and maturation techniques, we bring the wine to life.

All began in 1999 when Mario and Jenny bought the property in Karridale, which is located between Margaret River and Augusta. In 2000, the first vines were planted and 4 years later, we enjoyed our first vintage of Cabernet and Merlot. These days in our vineyard, we grow Merlot and Tempranillo grapes.

Consequently, our range of wines is mainly on the red side, with a lovely rosé style and a fortified pink dessert wine for those with a sweeter tooth, not to mention our yearly releases of dry grown Merlot and Tempranillo (black grape variety widely grown in Spain or Portugal to make full-bodied red wines). If you get a chance to visit our cellar door in South of Margaret River, you should definitely have a taste of Mario’s cuvée “Vin Cotto”, which is a mulled wine of secret recipe. Here at McLeod Creek Wines, we focus on quality, not quantity.
